Cabins & Campground in the Santa Cruz Mountains
A Group campground of Big Basin Redwoods State Park
A school, family and group campground for gathering, learning, and nature appreciation located in Boulder Creek, Santa Cruz County, California.
Little Basin, once a retreat and campground for Hewlett Packard employees, is a 534-acre California State Parks campground that was recently added to Big Basin Redwoods State Park through a partnership with the Peninsula Open Space Trust and Sempervirens Fund. Through an innovative approach in park operations and a public/private partnership, Little Basin will be run by the long established non-profit management organization United Camps, Conferences, and Retreats (UCCR).
Beginning in the summer of 2011 Little Basin opened for reservations. Groups of four or more can camp in this majestic redwood forest with its expansive meadows. Just a short drive from the Bay Area and Silicon Valley, Little Basin features beautiful group camping areas, exquisite redwood campsites, cabins, and miles of hiking trails.
Visitors will choose from 12 cabins, 38 tent spaces and several RV sites as well as a large group camping area. Visit our Camping Here page for detailed information about amenities and provisions. Large groups including organized environmental organizations, school groups, Scouts, colleges and universities, can reserve Little Basin exclusively and take full advantage of all the program and recreation opportunities.
This site does not accommodate day use. Guests of campers and group overflow vehicles can pay a parking fee of $10/car.
Setting Little Basin apart from other state park campgrounds is a recreation hall, tennis court, full basketball court, sand volleyball court, horseshoes, two sports fields, group BBQ area and a playground. In addition, UCCR is proud that its premier educational institute, the Web of Life Field (WOLF) School, will provide program services at Little Basin. The WOLF School runs dynamic and engaging educational programs in science & the environment, cultural history as well as leadership & team building to thousands of students and campers throughout northern and central California each year.
